CLUJ-NAPOCA: In his debut feature documentary A Last Year in 114 Minutes/Un ultim an în 114 minute, the visual artist Daniel Djamo films the final year of the woman who raised him.

This diary is one of the coups de coeur of the artistic director of Transilvania IFF Mihai Chirilov who selected it for the Romanian Days competitive section.

”It is not a documentation of death, but a projection of what really matters. It is obvious that a feeling cannot be transmitted in the sharpest, honestly human shape through the use of photography, film, or text. Nothing that is inside of us can be made as VHS or DVD. A Last Year in 114 minutes can only offer photocopied images of a story distorted by our own memories, becoming a reflection of ourselves in a deformed mirror,” Djamo said in the production notes.

He filmed Buni and their final months together between October 2010 and October 2011, and he edited the material into a 114 min. version in 2013. He also produced the film.

Born in 1987, Djamo has a Masters from the Time-Based Media department of the National University of Fine Arts from Bucharest. His portfolio includes the short films such as Lunch with a Cybernetic Cop, Bread at Ferma Roşie, The Barricade, The Showroom and Storm Is Coming.
