FESTIVALS: ASTRA Film Festival Kicks Off in Sibiu

    SIBIU: The XXI edition of ASTRA Film Festival (6-12 October) will screen 120 documentaries from 40 countries in a programme including four competitive sections.

    1,400 films from 90 countries have been submitted. The competitive sections are: International, Central and Eastern Europe, Student and Romania. The latest works of Frederik Wiseman, Corneliu Porumboiu and Michel Gondry are competing in the International section. Beside the Romanian competition there is also a showcase including the latest Romanian documentaries. The programme includes a focus on director Sergei Loznitsa who will be a guest of the festival.

    Astra Film Fest is organised by Astra Film - CNM Astra and Astra Film Foundation with the support of Sibiu County Council, Romanian Film Center, Ministry of Culture, European Union through the Creative Europe-Media Programme.
