CME Sells MediaPro Studios

By

BUCHAREST: Central European Media Enterprises (CME) has sold MediaPro Studios to a group of prominent American and Romanian investors including Donald Kushner and Bobby Păunescu.

CME announced the sale of MediaPro Entertainment shares to the producers whose main objective is to restore the prestige of one of the biggest film complexes in Central and Eastern Europe. No information about the price was released.

Păunescu told Mediafax Agency that the names of all the investors are still secret because, since CME is listed on the stock exchange, all the steps should be taken gradually.

Păunescu founded Mandragora International Group in 2004. The group has subsidiaries in Bucharest, Paris and New York. In Romania, Mandragora Movies already has two outdoor studios in the center of Bucharest.

In 2012 Păunescu and Jared Underwood (former Comerica Entertainment group manager) along with executives Kearie Peak and Christopher Taylor launched Solar Pictures in the USA.
