Cinema City Romania Consolidates Position in Cineworld

BUCHAREST: Cinema City Romania will open four new multiplexes in four cities including Bucharest in 2016. In 2015 Cinema City Romania reached the third position in Cineworld after the UK and Poland, and before Hungary, Czech Republic, Israel, Bulgaria and Slovakia.

New multiplexes will also be opened in 2016 in Timișoara, Piatra Neamț and Buzău. Cinema City opened five multiplexes in 2015 including its first 4DX cinema in Romania in May 2015 and its second 4DX in July 2015. Overall investment in 2015 was approximately 27 m EUR.

Cinema City, the number one cinema operator in Romania, currently runs 22 multiplexes with 198 screens. According to the company, Cinema City controls more than half of the Romanian market. “We estimate that the market will continue to grow following the development of the cinema theatres”, said Moshe (Mooky) Greidinger, the CEO of Cineworld.
