BRASOV, ROMANIA: HBO Europe began principal photography on the four-part hour long series Valea Mută / Valley of Silence on 10 May 2016, in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains.

The series is a fast-paced thriller seen through the eyes of two teenage boys. Their clandestine affair is dramatically interrupted when they witness a murder in a remote mountain region. If they keep their vow of silence about witnessing the murder, the case will never be solved and the killer will go unpunished.

Production will take 40 days with location shooting in Braşov, Săcele and Bucharest. The premiere on HBO is scheduled for the end of 2016.

Valley of Silence, written by Cristian Barna and directed by Marian Crisan, is based on Øyevitne / EyeWitness, a successful Norwegian format. Steve Matthews and Johnathan Young are executive producers for HBO Europe; for HBO Romania Andra Radu is the creative producer and Alina David is the producer. Tudor Mircea is the director of photography. The production company is Castel Film.

HBO is present in 14 eastern and central European territories including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
