Romanian Minority Coproduction Toni Erdmann Wins the FIPRESCI Grand Prix 2016

    BUCHAREST: German/Austrian/Romanian coproduction Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade will receive the FIPRESCI Grand Prix 2016, awarded by the International Federation of Film Critics to the best film of 2016. The prize will be awarded on 16 September 2016, at the opening ceremony of the San Sebastian Film Festival.

    The Grand Prix was decided through a poll among 475 members of FIPRESCI from around the world, who first nominated their favourite films among all feature-length works premiered since July 2015, and then chose from three finalists: Toni Erdmann, Duke Johnson and Charlie Kaufman's Anomalisa and Jim Jarmusch's Paterson.

    Toni Erdmann also received the International critics' prize awarded by the FIPRESCI jury at the 69th Festival de Cannes in 2016 and it was selected by the European Film Academy as one of the 50 films from which the nominations for the EFA Awards 2016 will be decided.

    Toni Erdmann was produced by Komplizen Film in coproduction with Coop99 Filmproduktion and Hi Film Productions.
