FESTIVALS: The 11th anim'est Animation Film Festival Underway in Bucharest

    BUCHAREST: This year's 11th edition of anim'est International Animation Film Festival, the only local festival exclusively dedicated to animated films and one of the most popular film festivals in Bucharest, is focused on cats. anim'est takes place from 7 to 16 October 2016.

    The festival organises competitions for feature films, short films, student films, music videos, Romanian films and short films for children (Minimest section).


    Belgium as special guest country and a selection of the best films from Spanish animation are among the highlights of the edition. Special events include Creepy Animation Night, Trippy Animation Night and Animusic Night.


    Shelley Page, one of the longest-living members of the famous animation studio DreamWorks Animation, and Anthony Farquar-Smith, key-animator for Corpse Bride by Tim Burton or Fantastic Mr. Fox by Wes Anderson, will hold masterclasses.


    The festival is organised by Este'n'est with the support of the Romanian Film Centre, the Ministry of Culture, the Romanian Filmmakers' Union (UCIN) and the Romanian Cultural Institute.
