BUCHAREST: Romanian writer/director Cristina Iacob is in preparation with another teen film, Confessions of a Teenager / Suge-o, Ramona!, following her box office hits #selfie and #selfie 69, which topped the domestic charts in 2014 and 2016,
The project is currently in the casting, scouting and financing stage, and is set for shooting in the summer of 2017. The director is looking in several Romanian towns for actors 18-25 years old who look 16.
Confessions of a Teenager is adapted from the novel Suge-o, Ramona! by Andrei Ciobanu, that had more than one million readers online. Ciobanu and Andrei Coteț are also writing the script. The film will be a coming-of-age story and an honest confession of sexual and moral ripening focusing on a shy boy who becomes a modern Casanova driven by the indifference of the girl he loves.
ZAZU FILM is producing. The budget is not yet settled as it will take into consideration the final locations, representatives of ZAZU FILM told FNE. The project already received a grant from the National Film Centre and has secured some private funding.
#selfie 69 was produced by Adrian Sârbu, the ex-CEO of Central European Media Enterprises, through Zazu Film. It was released by ZAZU FILM on 16 September 2016, had 144,971 admissions and 572,646 / 2,585,734 RON gross to date (according to Cinemagia). The film is a sequel to Iacob’s #selfie (Zazu Film), which was the domestic box office hit of 2014 with 87,288 admissions and 259,971 EUR / 1,143,875 RON gross.
