Digital Subscribers Increase by Ten Percent in Romania

BUCHAREST: The number of subscribers for digital retransmission programmes increased by ten percent in 2016 compared to 2015, according to the National Authority for Management and Regulations in Communications of Romania (ANCOM).

According to the statistics issued by ANCOM, there were almost 7.3 m subscribers for audiovisual programmes at the end of 2016. More than 4.7 are subscribers to cable networks, 2.4 m are subscribers to satellite networks (DTH) and 95,000 are IPTV subscribers.

The penetration rate of the payed retransmission audiovisual programmes is now more than 97%,

The statistical report about the electronic communications market in Romania is established by ANCOM using all the statistics reported by the providers biannually.
