CLUJ-NAPOCA: Director/screenwriter/producer Bogdan Theodor Olteanu will have the national premiere of his debut feature Several Conversations about a Very Tall Girl / Câteva conversații despre o fată foarte înaltă in the Romanian Days competition of the 17th Transilvania IFF, running from 25 May to 3 June 2018. This independent production is an intimate love story between two young women set in contemporary Romania.
Two girls get in touch online and begin to chat about another girl, a former lover of the both of them. While they grow closer and start seeing each other, the gap between them widens, as one them is looking for answers and love while remaining safely closeted. The film is a try-out for love confined within suffocating prejudices in today's Romania.
Bogdan Theodor Olteanu, Denisa Niță and Ana Ivan penned the script. The main characters are played by Silvana Mihai and Florentina Năstase.
This is not only the first feature film for the director, but also for the actors, the DOP, the sound editor and the art director.
The film was produced by Bogdan Theodor Olteanu through Venetic and Gabi Suciu through Atelier de Film in coproduction with Tudor D. Popescu through Popski. “This is an independent project; it didn’t even have an official budget. The producers just put together people, resources and equipment”, Bogdan Theodor Olteanu told FNE. The film was shot in several days throughout two months in 2016-2017.
Transilvania Film will release the film in Romania on 8 June 2018.
Bogdan Theodor Olteanu, who has no formal film training, is a former journalist and has also worked in PR and advertising. He made his first short film Chinese Lanterns / Lampioane chinezești in 2015.
