CLUJ-NAPOCA: Adina Pintilie’s first film Touch Me Not was selected for the main competition and also for the Romanian Days competition of the 17th Transilvania IFF, running from 25 May to 3 June 2018. This unusual film mixing fiction and non-fiction was awarded the Golden Bear and the GWFF Best First Feature Award at the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival.
Touch Me Not / Nu mă atinge-mă tackles the theme of intimacy through several characters played by professional and non-professional actors from the UK, Germany, Iceland, Bulgaria and Romania (Pintilie herself), who are bringing their own experiences on set.
The film was produced by Romania’s Manekino Film in coproduction with RohFilm Productions (Germany), PINK from the Czech Republic, Bulgaria’s Agitprop Ltd and France’s Les Films de l'Étranger.
The project received production support from the Romanian Film Centre, EURIMAGES, Torino Film Lab, MDM (Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung) Germany, the Bulgarian National Film Center, the Czech Film Fund and Strasbourg Urban Community. It also received an ARTE award at Cinemart 2011 and MEDIA development support, and was selected for Atelier Cinéfondation of Cannes Film Festival 2012, Binger FilmLab, Torino Film Lab and Sarajevo Work in Progress 2016.
Adina Pintilie worked on this project for eight years and after the Berlinale she returned to the sound postproduction of the film.
Representatives of Doc & Film told FNE that the film was sold in Italy, Israel, Portugal, Poland, Benelux, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine, Turkey, Hungary, Greece, Estonia, Iceland, Lithuania, Spain, UK & Ireland, Denmark, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia, Germany, Austria, France and China.
Advanced negotiations are underway for Northern America and discussions are underway for Australia, South Korea, Japan, Mexico and Scandinavia.
The film will be released in Romania in autumn 2018.
