    BUCHAREST: Radu Jude’s I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians has been sold by Beta Cinema to Poland, Hungary and ex-Yugoslavia. The film won the Crystal Globe for best film at the 53rd Karlovy Vary IFF and is Romania’s bid for the Oscars.

    Micro Film will release the film in Romania on 28 September 2018.

    I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians / Îmi este indiferent dacă în istorie vom intra ca barbari tackles a delicate subject in Romanian history, the massacre of approximately 20,000 Jewish people by the Romanian army in Odessa in 1941. The script penned by Jude follows a young theatre director, who plans to do a reenactment of the Odessa massacre during a cultural event in contemporary Bucharest.

    Hi Film Productions produced the film in coproduction with the Czech company endorfilm, France’s Les Films d’Ici, Bulgaria’s Klas Film and Germany’s Komplizen Film. It was supported by the SEE Network, the Romanian Film Centre, Aide aux Cinémas du Monde, the Czech State Cinematography Fund, the Bulgarian National Film Center and Eurimages.
