Pro TV wins NAB award

By FNE Staff
CME's flagship Romanian station Pro TV will receive this year's NAB International Broadcasting Excellence Award, presented on April 20 in Las Vegas by the National Association of Broadcasters.

The jury decision highlighted four programs on Pro TV: "Stop torturing the animals", "Any idea what your kid is doing right now?", "There is life after death" and "Romania, the big land clearing."

The programmes had direct impact on Romania and Romanian law. They include a new law with fines for animal torture; legislation that requires parents leaving the country for extended periods to inform authorities who is taking care of their children; and an increase inorgan transplants; and a new movement for reforestration.

Central European Media Enterprises (www.cetv-net.com) launched Pro TV in 1995. It is one of six channels CME operates in the country.

The National Association of Broadcasters (www.nab.org) established the awards in 1995 to recognize demonstrated exceptional leadership of broadcasters within their communities.
