The Romanian filmmaker Radu Muntean continues his "étude des caractères" with Tuesday after Christmas, a look at the pending break-up of a ten-year marriage.
Muntean (The Paper Will Be Blue, Boogie) wrote the script together with his longtime colleagues, Alexandru Baciu and Răzvan Rădulescu. Already cast are Mimi Brănescu (Boogie) and Maria Popistaşu (Sick Love). Tudor Lucaciu is the DoP.
The shooting is set to start in November. The film is produced by Multimedia Est (www.mme.ro) and received a €324,500 grant from the National Film Centre (www.cncinema.abt.ro), the biggest amount of money allotted in 2009 for a Romanian production.
Advertising agency McCann-Erickson (www.mccann.ro) and media agency Optimedia (www.optimedia.ro) are also supporting the film with €250,000. A commercial local TV will probably be involved as a co-producer, and a French co-producer is also expected.
The project participated recently at the coproduction forum Paris Cinema (www.pariscinema.org/fr), searching for a co-producer and a sales agency. The estimated budget is €930,000, of which the producers already have €641,000 in place.
The shooting will take place in Bucharest, and will last for 30 days. The premiere is not yet settled.
