TV channels welcome state money to promote tourism

By Iulia Blaga
The Romanian Ministry of Tourism is spending €924,000 to promote local tourism on three Romanian television stations.

The taxes exempt ad dollars will go to to Pro TV (www.protv.ro) , Realitatea TV and Antena 3 (www.antena3.ro), for promoting its programme called Tourist in Romania.

Pro TV will receive €415,000, Realitatea TV 323,000, and Antena 3 €184,000.

According to a report on parginademedia.ro, the prices required by the Ministry of Tourism are under the going market rates, but nevertheless welcomed in the current dry spell on the Romanian ad market.

The TV channels will air 30 seconds spots to convince Romanians to holiday locally.

Realitatea TV will receive nearly €600,000 by the end of the year, the report predicts, after adding all the station's contracts with the Ministry of Tourism. Those include a €200,000 programme that was awarded to the station without a call for bids.
