Production: Marian Crişan preps his first feature

By Iulia Blaga

Marian Crişan (Palme d'Or for the short Megatron in 2008) will shoot his first feature this autumn.

Crişan himself wrote the script for Morgen, the story of a man living by the Romanian-Hungarian border who likes to fish but whose catch one day is a Kurdish immigrant.

The filmmaker said he was inspired by an article he once read in a local newspaper.

The film is a Romanian-French coproduction between Anca Puiu and Mandragora (http://www.mandragora.ro/) together with Marianne Slot and Slot Machine (http://www.slotmachine.fr/). Most probably, the film will also involve also a Hungarian co-producer.

The project received €286,500 from the National Cinema Centre (http://www.cncinema.abt.ro) this year.

Crişan is now casting actors. The shooting will take place in autumn 2009 on location, in Crişan's hometown of Salonta. The premiere is planned for 2010.
