Production: Ujica wraps the final chapter of his trilogy of the communism

By Iulia Blaga

Andrei Ujica is editing The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu, the third part of his trilogy about communism, after the highly acclaimed Videogramme einer Revolution and Out of the Present.

The film explores the image of the Romanian dictator using unknown official footage from the Romanian National Television and National Film Archives (http://www.cncinema.abt.ro/ANF.aspx), the director told FNE.

In his previous chapters of the trilogy Ujica investigated the Romanian revolution of December 1989 through rough footage taken by ordinary people and the disintegration of the USSR through the eyes of the Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalyov while staying in the MIR station.

The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu is produced by Velvet Moraru and Icon Production together with the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro), which awarded the film a grant in 2007, and also with the collaboration of the National Television (www.tvr.ro). There is no sales agent yet. The premiere is set for 2010.

The director told FNE that the abundance of interesting material forced him to make a longer film which might be three hours in length.
