The Whistleblower to shoot in Romania

By Iulia Blaga

The Whistleblower, a first feature by Larysa Kondracki, will be shot in Romania this year with MediaPro Pictures (www.mediapropictures.com) providing services.

Rachel Weisz stars the contemporary drama based on true events following the war in ex-Yugoslavia. The British actress plays an American peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia who exposes a sex trade scandal involving employees of the United Nations.

The film is based on the story by Kathryn Bolkovac, who went to Bosnia as peacekeeper in 1999. Larysa Kondracki and Eilis Kirwan wrote the script.

The film is an independent drama, produced by Amy Kaufman with Primary Productions (www.primaryprod.com), Christina Piovesan with First Generation Films (firstgenerationfilms.com) and Celine Rattray with Plum Pictures (This email address is being protected from spambots. Voltage Pictures (www.voltagepictures.com) is in charge of the international sales. The producers originally had planned to shoot in Hungary.

The shooting is to take place this year. No official information from MediaPro Pictures has been released.
