Production: Born to Raise Hell to shoot in Romania

By Iulia Blaga

Born to Raise Hell, an action movie directed by Lauro Chartrand and starring Steven Seagal, will be shot at Castel Film Studios starting in early November.

The film is produced by Voltage Pictures (www.voltagepictures.com). Castel Film Romania (www.castelfilm.ro) is providing with services.

Steven Seagal will be an Interpol agent sent to Eastern Europe to target gun and dope trafficking. While investigating a Russian gun dealer, his team is caught in a bloody street war between a Gypsy gang and the Russians, leaving one task force member dead.

Bogdan Moncea, Marketing Manager at Castel Film Studios, told FNE that the casting is not yet finished, and some Romanian actors will also be in the cast. Shooting will wrap after 4 weeks. The film will be shot in Bucharest and at Castel Film Studios.

The script is written by Steven Seagal and Joe Halpin. Eric J. Goldstein is the DOP.

Born to Raise Hell is not the first feature shot by Steven Seagal in Romania. Last year, he made Against the Night directed by Richard Crudo, and in 2005 Attack Force and Shadow Man, directed by the same Richard Keusch.

Born to Raise Hell will be released in 2010. Moncea told FNE that the shooting at Puzzle for a Blind Man, by Andrei Zincă, scheduled for October, was postponed until spring 2010.
