Grant support for TIFF-Cluj

    Transilvania Film Festival TIFF Cluj-Napoca (www.tiff.ro) will get the biggest film festival grant from the National Centre for Cinema for 2010: 160,500 euro (690,000 RON).

    The International Independent Producers Film Festival comes the second with a grant of 73,500 euro (316,250 RON).

    The National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro) is supporting 10 film festivals between January 1 and June 30, 2010. The other festivals receiving state support are: NEXT - International Short and Medium Length FF (www.nextproject.ro), Timishort IFF (www.timishort.ro), BucharEST IFF (www.b-est.ro), Piatra Neamţ IFF (www.filmuldepiatra.ro), Best Film Festival (www.bestfilmfestival.wordpress.com), Green Planet Blues IFF (www.greenplanetblues.ro), Romanian Film Club Festival, Films For Fun FF.

    The National Centre for Cinema granted a total of 458,300 euro (1,970,000 RON) for film festival in the first half of 2010.

    2009 has been a record year for film festivals Romania, with at least six new festivals. There are more than 25 film festivals in the whole country. Bucharest alone has no less than seven international film festivals anually, three of them newcomers in 2009.
