Stanchev depart Romania's Kanal D

By Iulia Blaga
The Bulgarian CEO of Romanian channel Kanal D, Pavel Stanchev, confirmed he will leave the station for a new position to be announced within the next three weeks.

Stanchev has been CEO at Kanal D TV (www.kanald.ro) since February 1, 2009. He previously founded and was in charge of HBO Romania (www.hbo.ro) as General Manager (between 1997 and 2002), and worked as the CEO of RTL Televizia Croatia (www.rtl.hr) and the CEO of Nova TV Bulgaria (www.novatv.bg).

Kanal D will be administered by Haluk Kurcer, Executive Member of the Board of Directors, together with the management team.

Kanal D is a part of Dogan Media International trust, a subsidiary of Dogan Yayin Holding group (DYH), a leader on the Turkish media market. The channel received a licence from the National Audiovisual Council of Romania (www.cna.ro) in January 2007.

The channel plans to expand in the local market. In December 2008 Dogan Media International received a satellite licence for the children's channel Lolipop TV. The scheduled launch in March 2009 was postponed.

The Swiss media group Ringier (www.ringier.ro) has 25% of Kanal D shares.
