Romania to launch 3D TV

    Romania will see the the first 3D TV channel on air in 2010, with the planned launch of Central European Media Enterprises' (CME, www.cetv-net.com) Pro TV 3D in the fall. CME will also launch Acasă HD in 2010.

    SC Pro TV SA received a license for 3D experimental transmission from the Authority of Reglementation in Communications (ANCOM, www.anrcti.ro). SC Pro TV SA is also working on the launch of its existing TV channel Acasă on HD. Acasă HD channel will air exclusively on cable from this autumn. Two Romanian channels have already been transmitting in HD: Pro TV HD and Sport.ro HD.

    In December 2009, Pro TV, the Romanian flagship station of Central European Media Enterprises (www.cetv-net.com), announced it would delay the launch of Acasă Clasic TV until 2010.

    SC Pro TV SA, a leader on the local market, operates Pro TV (www.protv.ro), Acasă TV (www.acasatv.ro), Pro TV International (www.protvi.ro), Pro Cinema (www.procinema.ro), Sport.ro and MTV România (www.mtv.ro).
