PRODUCTION: Something Good From Life in postproduction

By Iulia Blaga

Romanian filmmaker Dan Piţa's Something Good from Life, his third film produced by Andrei Boncea and MediaPro Pictures (www.mediapropictures.com), is in post-production until December 2010.

Something Good From Life/Ceva bun de la viaţă was shot in the mining area of Romania for 7 weeks between April and June 2010. The post-production is taking place in Romania.

The film, starring mostly newcomers, is a story of two friends raised in an orphanage and working in harsh conditions in a mine. Piţa described the film as "a story of a haunted love and the story of some young people fighting with life and the environment."

The script was written by Răzvan Popescu and Alex Molico. The film is produced by MediaPro Picture, with the support of the National Centre for Cinema (www.cnccinema.abt.ro), where the project won a grant in 2007.

The film stars Corneliu Ulici, Dragoş Dumitru, Anastasia Dumitrescu, and Adelaida Perjoiu.

The Romanian premiere has not been set, pending the film's festival dates.
