PRODUCTION: In Treatment / În derivă series shooting

HBO Central Europe is shooting its first European series in Romania, from April until the end of August 2010. In Treatment is an adaptation of BeTipul, a series made by Hagai Levi for Israeli television. The series was previously adapted by HBO United States (www.hbo.com) as In Treatment, starring Gabriel Byrne.

In Treatment/În derivă is produced by Marc Lorber (HBO Central Europe's SVP Original Programming and Production). The series is directed by Adrian Sitaru (Angling) and Titus Muntean (Kino Caravan), two young filmmakers chosen by HBO Romania (www.hbo.ro) producers Andrei Creţulescu and Aurelian Nica for their big screen skills. The challenge of the series is that all the episodes consist of discussions between the main character, a therapist, and his patients, Sitaru told FNE. "I am interested in the psychology, my girlfriend is a psychologist, but one doesn't need any scientific knowledge here; there is just talking between two people," Sitaru said.

The DOP Adrian Silişteanu, a close colaborator of Sitaru, told FNE that the lighting is one of the few elements changing from one episode to another. The script was adapted for the Romanian audience by Anca Grădinariu, Augustin Cupşa and Andy Lupu.

The cast includes Marcel Iureş (Mission: Impossible, Amen, The Tulse Luper Suitcases, Part 2), Maria Dinulescu (Angling, California Dreamin'. Endless), Bogdan Dumitrache, Vlad Zamfirescu, Andreea Bibiri, Maria Mitu, and Tamara Creţulescu. Every patient has his own day of therapy. Each episode, aired from Monday to Thursday, focuses on one particular patient. On Friday, the therapist himself will see a collegue of his, following his own therapy.

The shooting takes place primarily at Atlantis Film Studios (www.atlantisfilm.ro), in Bucharest, with one week of exteriors shot on the streets of Bucharest. There are 45 episodes of 25 minutes each. Each director had to shoot 5 episodes in two weeks. The premiere will be on December 6, 2010.
