The film, which won a production grant of € 221,253 from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro ), is produced by the Romania's Libra Film (www.librafilm.net) with a budget of €700,000. The DOP is Andrei Butică.
Born in 1984, Jurgiu studied at the Drama and Film University in Bucharest. Before his feature debut he directed shorts, among them Oli's Wedding (Nunta lui Oli), which was awarded best fiction short at Leeds (www.leedsfilm.com ) and best Romanian short at the Gala Gopo (www.premiilegopo.ro ) this year.
The shoot will take place in spring or autumn and Libra is looking for a foreign co-producer, preferably in Poland, since the Kieslowski award has generated interest there. Talks with HBO Romania about a possible pre-buy are likely. Release is planned for February 2012.
