Romanian short film wins Berlinale Golden Bear

    The 10-minute Romanian film A Good Day for a Swim by director Bogdan Mustata picked up the Golden Bear Award in the short film category at the Berlin International Film Festival, according to the festival website (www.berlinale.de).

    The film is about three juvenile delinquents who break out of prison and abduct a truck driver and a prostitute, and the issues raised when violence is nothing but a game.

    The film is based on a screenplay by Catalin Mitulescu. All three of the protagonists came from prisons or correctional facilities in Romania and were not professional actors.

    Some 1,500 short films from 64 countries were presented in the Berlinale Shorts competition.
