NBC Universal Global Networks launches two channels in Romania

By FNE Staff

NBC Universal announced the launch of two of its most successful channel brands in Romania.

The localised versions of SCI FI and Universal Channel debut on TV platform ‘AKTA' (formerly called MAX TV). The addition of the two to the existing Hallmark Channel, Movies 24 and KidsCo brands makes Romania the second country in Europe to offer such a comprehensive range of channels from NBC Universal Global Network.

In a press statement, Colin McLeod, Managing Director (CEE), NBC Universal Global Networks said, "The launch of Universal Channel and SCI FI forms part of a comprehensive growth strategy for Romania, which has long been the most successful CEE country for the Hallmark Channel."

The move follows the most recent launch for the SCI FI and Universal Channel in Poland in December 2007.
