Steep Decline for Romanian Media Market

    BUCHAREST: Advertising spend was down 37% in Romania in 2010, according to the newly released Media Fact Book. Acvertising dropped across all segments of the market, with TV ad spend down 34%.

    The Romania Business Insider reports that spending will continue to drop in 2011, with TV ad revenues expected to reach just 308 million euros, compared to 339 million euros in 2010, and a high of 540 million euros in 2008. The advertising market is now at its lowest point for the past 5 years.

    Internet advertising fell the least, by 19%. Although it still accounts for a minor part of the market, it is expected to rise in 2011.
