BELGRADE: Emir Kusturica is in preparation with Just One More Time, a feature film loosely based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s works and his first collaboration with the Hong Kong-based Dirty Monkey Films Group. The film will be shot in China and also in Marseilles and Rome starting July or August 2018.

During the latest edition of the Kustendorf Film and Music Festival, which took place at Mokra Gora from 16 to 21 January 2018, Kusturica told the Serbian media that the story will follow the moral dillema of a young Chinese gymnast travelling to Europe after falling in love with a woman, who is now trying to make her capitalist dream come true.

Kusturica also revealed that shooting is due to start in the summer of 2018 and the contract signed with the Chinese party guarantees the film’s distribution in 25,000 cinemas in China. He gave no indications about other production companies involved in the project.

The famous Serbian director is also working on If Not Now, When?, an adaptation of Primo Levi’s novel about Jewish partisans in WWII.
