BELGRADE: Goran Radovanović’s latest documentary The Makavejev Case or Trial in a Movie Theater had its world premiere in the Serbian film programme of FEST (22 February – 3 March 2019), the most popular film festival in Serbia. This is the only documentary in the Serbian film programme this year.
The Makavejev Case or Trial in a Movie Theater / Slučaj Makavejev ili proces u bioskopskoj sali explores the position of an artist in the Socialist FR Yugoslavia, focusing on the political and social climate, that used public platforms to condemn the film WR: Mysteries of the Organism, under the auspices of the Communist Party by Dušan Makavejev (produced by Neoplanta Film) in 1971.
The film features: Milena Dravić, Svetozar Cvetković, Ilija Bašić, Slobodan Miletić, Branislav Dimitrijević, Andrej Popović and Petar Volk.
Nama Film and Oktobar Film produced the film with the support of Film Center Serbia, as well as Serbia’s Ministry of Culture and Information, the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, the Yugoslav Cinematheque and the Arras Film Festival.
It is not known yet when the film will hit the cinemas.
