Gypsy, The House Tie for Slovak Film Awards

    {mosimage}BRATISLAVA: The House and Gypsy each won six prizes at The Sun in a Net, Slovakia's biannual national film awards which took place on 17 April 2012.

    The House (www.fogndesirefilms.com) directed by Zuzana Liová won the Best Fiction Film award, while Martin Šulík won the Best Director award for Gypsy (www.infilm.cz).

    The House also took home the prizes for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Judit Bardos) Best Actor in a Leading Role (Miroslav Krobot), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Tatjana Medvecka), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Marek Geisberg), and Best Film Screenplay (Zuzana Liová).

    Gypsy won awards for Best Cinematography (Martin Sec) Best Film Editing (Jiri Brozek) Best Film Sound (Peter Mojzis), Best Music (Vladimir Godar), and Best Costumes (Katarina Holla).

    Šulík also won the Best Documentary Film prize for 25 From the Sixties or the Czechoslovak New Wave I and II (www.ceskateleviza.cz).

    The remaining awards went to The Stones by Katarína Kerekesová for Best Animation Film, Light Breeze by Sarhaa Karimi for Best Short Film, and Surviving Life (www.athanor.cz) by Jan Švankmajer for Best Art Direction.

    Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Slovak Cinema went to director and screenwriter Eduard Grečner and to cinematographer Tibor Biath.
