TRENCIN: Film Funds from Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have been invited to participate in a first gathering of the four Visegrad funders.

Cinematik artistic director Vladimir Stric told FNE that the meeting is scheduled for 9 September 2013, during the eighth edition of the festival which runs 6 – 12 September 2013 in the Slovak spa town of Piestany. The inspiration for the meeting was the realization that Slovakia and Hungary are coproducing their first film in many years, Mirage directed by Szabolcs Hajdu (Mph Films). The film will be used as a case study for future coproductions between the V4 partners. Mirage was one of 12 upcoming Slovak films presented during the industry Forum at Art Film Festival which concluded on 26 June 2013.

Stric said the goal will be to produce a common project with all four countries and film funds participating in 2018, to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, a definitive date in the establishment the independence of the countries. The MEDIA Desks are also expected to be involved in the Piestany meeting.
