TRENCIANSKE TEPLICE:  A new Slovak Strategy for Development of the Audiovisual Culture and Industry 2016-2020 is set to be sent to the Slovak government for approval by the end of 2015. It will focus on four main areas which were discussed at a first panel organised during Art Film Fest.

Anton Škreko, Director of Communication Media and Authors' Rights Department within the Slovak  Ministry of Culture, told FNE, "There are four main areas to be worked on and all of them should lead to the beneficial conditions for creative industries:

    • Create an environment for natural networking and synergies (such as coproductions)
    • Development of human resources and professional capital – support of formal education (on international and contemporary level),
    • Improvement of access to the market for Slovak audiovisual products
    • Adjustment of the details and compatibility of already existing supporting institutions (mainly financial ones) such as the Slovak Audiovisual Fund

Representatives of Slovak audiovisual industry talked about the main issues within their fields: Tibor Búza from Radio and television of Slovakia, Peter Dubecký, the head of Slovak Film Institute, Marcel Grega from the Association of the Independent Radio and TV Channels, Ivan Hronec, the head of Film Europe Media Company, Anton Škreko, the minister of Culture, Marian Urban from ALEF FILM&MEDIA and Igor Luther, the director and head of the Slovak Audiovisual Fund board.

Most of them agreed that the main area where improvement is needed is to increase the amount of the state financial support to the audiovisual industry and the incentives scheme.
