GRANTS: Slovak Audiovisual Fund Increases Funding in 2017

By

BRATISLAVA: Slovak Audiovisual Fund (AVF) will increase funding up to 7m EUR in 2017, representing a 12% increase compared to 2016. Also, international projects benefitting of the 20% cash rebate, will receive up to 4.5m EUR in 2017.

Development grants will increase from 3,000 EUR to a maximum of 5,000 EUR. Maximum grant for festivals will increase from 200,000 EUR to 300,000 EUR per festival. Films and TV projects will be judged separately.

Starting 2017, animated films will be included in the production grants contest for Slovak minority coproductions, and TV animated projects will be preferred.

Another novelty is that one project cannot receive more than three grants from the Slovak Audiovisual Fund. This doesn’t apply for minority coproductions and student films, which can receive only one grant from the AVF.

“Thanks to these changes, we are expecting much efficient support of individual projects; it will be a more flexible process of providing financial support. From the other side (producers, distributors, festival organisers), we expect higher transparency and providing of comprehensive information about the actual total cost of each project”, Martin Šmatlák, Head of Audiovisual Fund, told FNE.
