BRATISLAVA: Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) have elected producer Wanda Adamík Hrycová as its president. She succeeds the outgoing SFTA president Martin Šulík.
Adamík Hrycová is the head of Wandal Production, the company which produced The Line / Čiara by Peter Bebjak, last year’s domestic box office hit and winner of the best director award at KVIFF. The Line won six awards at the national Sun in a Net ceremony, including the best film of 2017. Adamík Hrycová has extensive experience in the field of film and theatre. She was the head manager of the Nová scéna theatre and the CEO of the biggest television production company in Slovakia, MediaPro Entertainment Slovakia.
SFTA is the leading professional audiovisual organisation in Slovakia. It organises the annual Slovak Film Week showcase and the Sun in a Net awards, which is one of two most important national film prizes.
The organisation cooperates with the European Film Academy and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and annually nominates the Slovak films which represent the country in the Oscar and European Film prize competitions.
