BRATISLAVA: The renowned Slovak documentary filmmaker Jaro Vojtek is in preproduction with his second feature film Anesthesia / Anestéza (working title). According to the producer Mátyás Prikler from MPhilms, the film is expected to be finished in the second half of 2021.

The film tells the story of an anesthetist whose young patient died during surgery. Everything suggests that the death is a mistake caused by his fatigue and inattention. In an effort to cope with the situation, he makes a pilgrimage to Litmanová, a Catholic religious site in the northern Slovak mountains, where he faces not only himself, his conscience and God, but also the characters and figures of the village's religious environment. David underges an inner pilgrimage to his essence to finally forgive himself and to accept things as they are.

The leading role will be played by popular Czech actor Pavel Liška and casting for the supporting roles is underway. The film‘s 30 shooting days are scheduled for the autumn of 2020 or spring of 2021.

The estimated budget is 850,000 EUR. The film received 362,000 EUR from the Slovak Audiovisual Fund. „Right now we are waiting for a response from RTVS and the Czech Film Fund,“ producer Mátyás Prikler told FNE.

Producers are discussing the Slovak distribution with ASFK.
