Slovak producer Marko Skop heads for Cannes

By Jana Kadlecova

Producer and director Marko Skop, the co-founder of production company Artileria, will represent Slovakia in the Producers on the Move programme at Cannes May 17-20.

Skop's most recent production is the documentary Blind Loves by director Juraj Lehotsky that will be screened in the section Quinzaine des Realisateurs.

"I am really looking forward to it. It is great connection," Skrop told FNE. "At other festivals I am usually in the film industry section, and there I have to do everything for the film."

Skop established Artileria (www.artileria.sk) with Jan Melis, and produces both his own films and those of his partners. His feature film debut as director/producer, Other Worlds, won a Special Jury Mention at the 2006 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and was the first documentary in the festival's history to win the Audience Award.

Producers on the Move is a selection of 22 of Europe's most outstanding young producers chosen by the members of European Film Promotion. Over the past nine years the initiative has established itself as a platform for promising European producers.
