The Trip Anticipates Strong Premiere in Slovenia

By Iulia Blaga

{mosimage}LJUBLJANA: Already a film festival hit, The Trip (Izlet), the first feature from Slovenian director Nejc Gazvoda, is expected to find domestic box office success when it premieres on 19 January. "Our expectations are pretty high due to the feedback at the Ljubljana International Film Festival (www.liffe.si) and at two pre-screenings that the film already had. The reactions were great from both the audience and the local critics," the producer Aleš Pavlin told FNE.

The coming-of-age road movie of three young friends traveling to the seaside as they used to do in high school will be released in Slovenia on 6 prints. It will be a nation-wide premiere in all the major cities: Ljubljana, Maribor, Celje and Novo Mesto. The Slovenian distributor is Continental film (www.continentalfilm.si).

Discussions with possible sales agents are under way. "We didn't want to make any decisions yet since we believe that the local success will give additional strength to the film," Pavlin added.

The Trip has already been awarded at or selected by several film festivals, including Sarajevo, Montpellier, Warsaw and Triest. It was produced by Andrej Štritof and Pavlin through their company Perfo d.o.o. (http://perfo.si) with a budget of 188,500 euros. Nejc Gazvoda wrote the script, and the main characters are played by Jure Henigman, Nina Rakovec and Luka Cimprič.
