BERLIN: This year the 63rd Berlin Film Festival, taking place from 7 to 17 February, is also marked by two Slovenian actors, which has never happened before.

At the proposal of the Slovenian Film Centre, the international jury selected Jure Henigman for one of the ten European Shooting Stars. These ten were chosen out of 27 candidates. The programme involving the ten young actors is taking place between 9 and 11 February, when they are going to meet the press and representatives of actors agencies from all over the world at Berlinale. The programme will culminate on Monday, 11 February at 6:15 p.m., when the actors will walk the red carpet to the Berlinale Palast and receive their awards on the main stage.

Furthermore, this year Marko Mandić, who was the last Slovenian Shooting Star in 2007, is going to shine in as many as two Berlinale films. This year's success of his proves that the Shooting Stars project has presented him to the film world successfully.

In the competition programme of the Berlinale, Marko Mandić will appear as the male protagonist of the film Gold by the German director Thomas Arslan. The film is showing on 9 February at 7 p.m. at the Berlinale Palast.

Mandić's second Berlinale film this year is Lose Your Head by the directors Stefan Westerwell and Patrick Schuckmann, where he appeared in the role of Victor. The premiere of this film is scheduled for Friday, 8 February, in the official Panorama programme.

Naturally, Berlinale is taking place in accordance with what is already a well-established procedure. The Bosnian film An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker, the fifth feature by the director Danis Tanović, filmed in cooperation with the Slovenian production house Vertigo/Emotion film as well as France, will be screened in the competition programme.

This year in Berlin, the Slovenian Film Centre (SFC) will once again have a stand in the Martin Gropius Bau building, where it is going to provide information about Slovenian films to the festival selectors, buyers and journalists. At the same time SFC will provide room for all Slovenian professionals present in Berlin, who will be able to use this space for their business meetings. The SFC representatives will be present in Berlin from 7 to 13 February.

The Slovenian Film Centre and thus also the Slovenian film are going to be presented already for the eighth time at a joint venue with the Czechs and Slovaks under the common trademark CEC - Central European Cinema.

The following films will be shown at the market screenings: Good to Go by the director Matevž Luzar, coming to Slovenian cinemas in April; Adria Blues by the director Miroslav Mandić, coming to the cinemas in September; and Shanghai Gypsy by the director Marko Naberšnik, the biggest Slovenian boxoffice hit in 2012.
