LJUBLJANA: A pair of Slovenian films have emerged as fall box office hits: Dual by Nejc Gazvoda and  Class Enemy by Rok Biček.  Both films also had strong showings at the recent Festival of Slovenian Film.

ual, produced by PERFO d.o.o (www.perfo.si) and distributed by Fivia (www.cenex.si/fivia.php), had attendance of 4,266 and box office of 18,137 EUR in its first five weeks. The film debuted in the top ten at the box office chart, falling to 17th place in week five.

Class Enemy, produced by Triglav film (www.triglavfilm.si) and distributed by Fivia (www.cenex.si/fivia.php), had an even more impressive start. Coming fresh from receiving the FEDEORA award at Venice Film Festival, the film drew 5,375 viewers and box office of 20,453 EUR in just 2 weeks, reaching sixth place overall.

Both films are far from achieving the success of  the 2012 smash hit Shanghai, produced by Arsmedia (www.arsmedia.si) and distributed by Kolosej ZC (www.kolosej.si/about-kolosej), which was seen by 45.852 people and brought in 195,840 EUR at the box office.

With two more commercial heavyweights, Chefurs Raus produced by Arsmedia d.o.o, (www.arsmedia.si/) and Going Our Way 2 produced by Vertigo Emotionfilm (www.emotionfilm.si),  still to arrive in theatres, the second half of 2013 looks promising for the domestic film industry.
