PORTOROZ: Kyros Papavassiliou’s debut feature Impressions of the Drowned Man will be screened with other Slovenian minority coproduction film in the competition of the 18th Slovenian Film Festival (15-20 September 2015).
Totally disconnected from his past and his memory, the Passenger tries to define himself confronted by his pre-determined fate, a fate that he has to re-live every anniversary of his death.
Editor and director Kyros Papavassiliou, points out that the film slides through different layers of reality and constantly migrates between the logical and the illogical.
Impressions of the Drowned Man was produced by the Cypriot production company DryTree Films in coproduction with Slovenia's Restart Production and Filmblades. The film was supported by Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture with 390,600 EUR.
The Slovenian coproducer contributed with 4,16% of the total budget of 766,000 EUR, coproducer Bojan Mastilovič told FNE. He added that this Cypriot-Greek-Slovenian cooperation was established with the help of the platform Cinelink at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
The film premiered in competition at Rotterdam International Film Festival 2015 The release date in Slovenia is not yet known.
