LJUBLJANA: Siska Deluxe by Jan Cvitkovič is competing at the 25th edition of Cottbus Film Festival running through 8 November 2015. The film had its world premiere in Montreal and competed in the Slovenian Film Festival in Portoroz.
Cvitkovič wrote the story about three men who were childhood friends but cannot seem to grow up. They decide to open a pizzeria when one of them inherits a small commercial property. Cvitkovič, one of the most significant Slovenian directors of his generation, received the Lion of the Future Award in Venice in 2001 for Bread and Milk (Vertigo, 2001). The film was pitched at Connecting Cottbus in 2013.
The main characters are played by non-professional actors: Žiga Födransberg, Marko Miladinović, David Furlan and Jana Prepeluh. Jure Černec is the DoP. Shooting took place in the summer of 2014.
The film was produced by Andrej Štritof and Aleš Pavlin through Perfo Production in coproduction with Czech's Evolution Films and Macedonia's Kino Oko. The total budget was 1,038,380 EUR, Pavlin told FNE. The project was supported by the Slovenian Film Center with 515,000 EUR and also by the Czech Film Fund and the Macedonian Film Agency.
Siska Deluxe was released in the Slovenian cinemas on 29 October 2015 by Fivia. Cvitkovič is currently working on his next feature Our Family (Perfo Production),
