LJUBLJANA: A South Korean crew is currently shooting approximately 50 minutes for the popular TV series Dear Friends in Piran, an old Slovenian town on the coast near Portoroz, where the Slovene Film Festival is annually held.
The series will be broadcast on tvN Channel and is expected to be released also in Taiwan, China and Japan.
Around 100 members of the crew, including leading actress Go Hyum-jung and actor Zo In-sung, use the town as one of its three Slovenian filming locations, the other two being the Slovenian capital city of Ljubljana and the small touristic town of Bled. Next they are headed to Croatia where they will use filming locations in Rovinj and Zagreb.
Piran is one of the most popular destinations for domestic and foreign filmmakers. “It is a very significant cooperation between the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) and the travel agency Happy Tours, which has long been active on the Korean market”, representatives of the Portoroz Tourist Association reported. “The shooting of the foreign television series is of great importance for the promotion of our destinations on the Eastern Asian market and will be financially supported by the Portoroz Tourist Association”, they also said.
The number of tourist from South Korea is increasing in Piran as well as in Postojna Cave. It increased 18 times in the past ten years, exceeding 92,000 overnight stays in 2015.
