ORS announces plans to digitalize Slovenia

By FNE Staff
Austrian digital broadcasting specialist Oesterreichische Rundfunksende announced it has bid on Slovenia's second DVB-T platform, with a decision expected October 15.

ORS (www.ors.at) Managing Director, Michael Wagenhofer said that if the company's bid is accepted, "we expect to start our activities in Slovenia immediately. By 1st June 2009, 75% coverage with digital TV will be reached; that means all major cities of Slovenia will be covered with DVB-T. According to our plans, the project can be finished in the next two years."

ORS operates the DVB-T platform in Austria, where 90% of households are able to receive digital terrestrial TV. The company stressed the similarity in terrain between Austria and Slovenia as a strength of its bid.
