Slovenian Film Center Appoints New Director

    LJUBLJANA: The board of the Slovenian Film Center (SFC; www.film-center.si) has elected Jožko Rutar as Director of the SFC. He replaces Samo Rugelj, who had been acting director.

    Rutar will take up the new post on 1 July 2011 for a five year term, ending 1 July 2016.

    Jožko Rutar was born in 1970. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana. In 2006 he was selected as a Producer on the Move, presented at the Cannes film festival. He is a graduate of the 2008 European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs programme (EAVE). Rutar is the president of the Association of Slovenian film producers and of the Expert Council at Slovenian collective society AIPA.

    In 2004 he joined the production company STARAGARA, which was founded by directors Jan Cvitkovič and Janez Burger. Besides numerous short films and documentaries his production credits includes the feature films Gravehopping (2005) and Silent Sonata (2010).
