COTTBUS: A Kurdish construction worker in Istanbul fakes an accident resulting in his death in order to help his family obtain “blood money” from the company to secure a home for his displaced family in the project Blood Money presented at the 15th edition of the pitching forum Connecting Cottbus.
The writer/director is Kivanc Sezer and the film will be produced by Soner Alper for Turkish art house production company Nar Film. The producers have 110,000 EUR in financing in place toward the 580,000 EUR budget, and will be applying for financial support in Turkey. The film is scheduled to shoot in October 2014.
The team were in Cottbus looking for European coproducers and seeking to fill creative positions on the film. They said the film covers an important current topic in Turkey and the cast will include real construction workers, with dark humor coming through the relationships between the characters.
