FNE in Cannes: Antalya Fest set for October Date

By

Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival and the accompanying Eurasia International Film Festival and Market have set their dates for this year's edition.

Deniz Ziya Temeltas who is currently lining up the fest's international programme said the festival's annual Golden Orange competition for best Turkish feature film would be held from 1 to 8 October in the resort city of Antalya under the auspicies of AKSAV (Antalya Kulture and Art Foundation) The fifth edition of the accompanying Eurasia International Festival competition, Eurasia Film Market and Eurasia Coproduction Platfrom (EPP) will take place from 1 to 3 October.

Tursak (Turkish Foundation of Cinema and Audiovisual Culture) the promotional agency that has organized the Eurasia competition and market for the past four years under contract to AKSAV issued a press statement earlier this week (see FNE press releases) saying that would not be working on the event this year.

Temeltas said that AKSAV who have organized the annual Golden Orange event which is backed by the municipality of Antalya for nearly 50 years decided to run the events themselves this year.

"We may scale back the film market a bit given the current global financial crisis," said Temeltas, "but generally the festival will go ahead as usual."

Temeltas said he had already had an exciting line-up of films for the international competition and that the EPP would go ahead this year in association with the Locarno FF, Hong Kong Finance Forum and Shanghai Film Festivals who would be cooperating on sharing some projects from their own coproduction forums.

The Tursak team who launched the Eurasia parallel events under AKSAV four years ago have said they will continue with the other events that they regularly organize including the Istanbul International Meeting of Cinema and History Film Festival, International Children's Film Festival and International Comedy Film Festival and at our new projects.
