Malta Film Commission Media Release - TorinoFilmLab FrameWork 2012 comes to a successful end

Successful conclusion to TorinoFilmLab - FrameWork 2012 and Open Lectures

Malta was the venue for the 5th edition of ‘FrameWork 2012 Workshop' organised by TorinoFilmLab, in partnership with Malta Film Commission, as part of its initiative to develop and create training opportunities to cater for the needs of the film industry. This event was also supported by Museo Nazionale del Cinema, Film Commission Torino Piemonte, and the Media programme.

The FrameWork sessions involved the participation of over 30 film producers and scriptwriting professionals from around the world. The workshop allowed participants to work together as teams on eleven selected film scripts projects where experts counseled them in relation to various aspects from pitch preparation, script development to project presentation and more. Feedback obtained from the workshop on the projects will then allow the teams to work further on developing the projects to then present them again during a final TFL Meeting Event and Torino Film Festival taking place in November. Participants also had to opportunity to meet with the Malta Film Commissioner, Mr. Peter Busuttil, who gave them an information session about the portfolio of movies shot in Malta over the last few years; Malta's infrastructure, the wide range of quality film related services, skilled talent and crew, and the advantageous financial incentives available.

During the FrameWork workshop, four Maltese scriptwriters were given the opportuinity for their projects to be evaluated by the tutors Savina Neirotti, TorinoFilmLab Director, and Razvan Radulescu, Romanian scriptwriter and in addition were given individual one on one sessions to discuss their projects further. The four projects included, The Golden Calf by Ruth Frendo and Charlo Bonnici, The Chimera by Francis Ghersci, The Marginals by Mark Dingli and Bus Stop by Monika Maslowska. "The tutors gave positive feedback stating that they were well-written and that the projects looked promising which as Mr. Peter Busuttil stated "this can be considered as a good sign for Malta's budding creative element which has an important role in contributing towards building Malta's indigenous Film Industry".

Apart from the workshops the general public had the opportunity to attend four open lectures which took place involving Jonathan Nossiter (Mondovino, Rio sexy comedy) on directing, Roshanak Behesht Nedjad, on production, Franz Rodenkirchen, on scriptwriting, and Matyas Erdely, on cinematography; and two screening sessions of short films.
