Audience Award for Best Film and Five More Vesna Awards for Debut Feature Film »Good To Go« at 15th Festival of Slovenian Film

    A bitter sweet comedy, about a retired old man who has decided to be happy before he dies, was awarded with six awards at 15th Festival of Slovenian film in Portorož.

    Written and directed by Matevž Luzar, his first feature film, »Good To Go« (original title: »Srečen za umret«) was screened in the competition program of the festival. The movie was produced by the Slovenian production company Pakt Media in coproduction with Croatian Ars Septima and Czech Film United. The movie was financially supported by Slovenian Film Center and Croatian Audiovisual Center. »Good To Go« was awarded Audience Award for Best Movie and five Vesna awards for Best Script (Matevž Luzar), Best Photography (Simon Tanšek), Best Production design, (Katja Šoltes), Best Costume design (Pia Šinigoj Premzl) and Best Sound design (Julij Zornik).


    »Good To Go« is a bitter sweet comedy, about a grumpy old man who buys himself a plot in a graveyard, with an unrivalled view of the Alps, and then he checks into a retirement home to wait for his death in peace. But exactly the opposite happens: at computer classes he discovers his joie-de-vivre and finally starts to live. Outstanding Slovenian actors Evgen Car and the legend of ex-Yugoslavian film and theatre Milena Zupančič play the leading roles.
    Matevž Luzar is one of Slovenia’s most talented young directors. He graduated from film school with the acclaimed short film Wolfy (Vučko) which was nominated for an Honorary Foreign Award in the 35th Annual Student Academy Awards® competition. In addition, it won the Grand Prix at the 30th Montpellier International Festival of Mediterranean Film, was selected for official competition for the Leopards of Tomorrow award for best newcomer at the Locarno International Film Festival, and won the Vesna award for Best Actor at the 11th Slovenian Film Festival.
