EFA BOARD CONCERNED ABOUT EU 'CINEMA COMMUNICATION'

On the occasion of its meeting held in Valletta/Malta following the 25th European Film Awards the board of the European Film Academy issued the following declaration:

The European Film Academy is very much concerned about public film funding in Europe! Europe's national supporting schemes are threatened by the new so-called Cinema Communication issued by the EU. Member states with important film funds like Germany and France have expressed deep concerns about the new rule. The board of the European Film Academy is pleading the European Commission to take these concerns seriously and to come to an agreement with the member states. Europe needs cultural diversity!
